Minecraft Tournament 3, Heat 2
This was fought out between the winners of the previous Minecraft Tournament, which was a completely different competition all about teamwork and collaboration rather than individual skill. Various players were in the lead throughout the tournament: Evie, Paul and Kyle all being ahead of the rest at different points. However it was Brodie who came out as the winner - she stayed clear of the others, avoiding all the PVP battles and found an area with lots of diamond blocks. Although this place was heavily trapped, she carefully mined the diamond and crafted each piece of diamond armour she needed to make her full set and therefore the victory. Brodie is through to the next round. |
Minecraft Tournament 3, Heat 1
It was a hard fought battle, but after much to-ing and fro-ing, and also a good deal of hiding in caves, Soutir emerged the winner. It wasn't an outright victory, but with three pieces of diamond armour to his name, he was ahead of the rest of the field. Soutir is through to the next round... |
Minecraft Tournament Number 3
(image by pein078 on DeviantArt) Who is going to be the Minecraft Champion? Who is going to win the Minecraft Trophy? It could be you. A new Minecraft Tournament is about to start. Unlike the previous two, this is not a collaborative teamwork challenge, but is a player versus player (PvP) event. The RULES Players must enter by filling in the form below. They will then be allocated to a heat and compete with 5 other players for 30 minutes on a lunchtime. In each heat, players will compete with each other to find the Diamond armour. The first player to return to the Spawn point with a full set of Diamond Armour will win. To be clear this includes:
Should the heat end and nobody have a full set, then the player with the most diamond equipment will go through. Should no player have diamond equipment, then no player will go through to the next round. The winner of each heat will go through to the next round, and so on until there are 6 players left to compete in the Grand Final. How to enter IMPORTANT: You will need to be signed in with your paganelschool.net account to see the form below. |
The First Night Panic
The problem most teams have when they play Minecraft is dealing with the first night. Normally, they have been too busy exploring to make beds, tools and walls so when the night comes and the mobs start appearing, then panic and start running around everywhere. The more they run, the more mobs are spawned and so things go wrong very quickly, as you can see in this short video! |

The Secrets to Success in the Minecraft Tournament
After our first week, 5 teams have now competed in the Minecraft Tournament. There have been a range of different strategies, some of which have worked and some of which have been complete disasters. The best teams so far have scored over 200 points in their 45 minutes. Here's some tips I've seen from the best teams: Don't Die When the first night comes I've seen a lot of panic - players running around and generally getting killed by Mobs. Here's how to avoid this:
Make 6 beds. This is the best strategy. If you can find a way of making 6 beds, you're whole team can sleep through the night and gain extra minutes of daytime mining and crafting. Read the 'How to Score' post There is no point putting things in your chest that aren't worth anything. Only mine only craft what will score you points. Keep your hearts up If your hearts go low then you can die by just falling a few block so keep your hearts up by:
